The Why: Our Story
In 2018, our founders witnessed firsthand the technological gap hindering African NGOs from maximizing their impact. While working with various organizations across the continent, they observed a common pattern: brilliant initiatives with transformative potential were being limited by outdated systems, manual processes, and inadequate digital infrastructure.
Many NGOs were spending valuable resources on cumbersome paperwork, struggling with data management, and missing opportunities to scale their impact due to technological constraints. The digital revolution was transforming industries worldwide, but these change-makers were being left behind.
This realization sparked the creation of DIRA Foundation. We believed that if we could bridge this technological divide, we could unlock unprecedented potential for social impact across Africa. Our mission became clear: empower NGOs with the digital tools they need to focus on what they do best - creating positive change.
Today, DIRA Foundation stands as a testament to that vision, having transformed the operations of 15+ NGOs across the continent and donated over 50,000 lines of code to the social sector.
